I never tire of artistically playing with the concept of a vessel. A cup, ship, and a woman's body are all considered vessels. As I make cups I relate to the ship what it contains, the passengers, and how it will be delivered. I also compare my cup to the human form.
As a painter I deliver this medium to my pots as well. To further enhance the vessel I sculpt and paint with carvings and glazes. As a flag on a ship my pots bare their colors and give voice to each piece.
Drinking from a vessel that was created from Earth has a grounding effect. I am interested in the human connection with pottery. I want each person to feel the form, weight and fit of each piece in their hands.
